The winners of the 2009 European eGovernment Awards have been announced today at the eGovernment Ministerial Conference in Malmö (Sweden). The awarded projects were selected for their innovative contribution to increasing the efficiency of public services through the use of digital technologies. In their respective categories the winners are: the European Order for Payment Application (Austria and Germany), Genvej (Denmark), the Italian Public Administration eMarketplace (Italy) and Licensing of Hunters via the “Multibanco” ATM Network (Portugal).

EU ministers: accessible, interactive and customised online public services in Europe by 2015
EU ministers have committed to developing smarter online public services for citizens and businesses by 2015. The Commission has welcomed this step forward in making eGovernment more accessible, interactive and customised. At the fifth Ministerial eGovernment Conference in Malmö (Sweden) today, EU ministers outlined a joint vision and policy priorities on how this should be delivered. eGovernment is a key step towards boosting Europe’s competitiveness, benefiting from time and cost savings for citizens and businesses across Europe.
An open Europe with accessible public administration – Ministerial declaration on eGovernment policy
Ministers responsible for eGovernment issues in the EU Member States, applicant countries, candidate countries and the EFTA countries, together representing 34 countries, met yesterday in Malmö where they approved a new ministerial declaration on eGovernment up until 2015.

European eGovernment Awards 2009 finalists announced
Brussels, 24 August 2009 – The European Commission has announced today the names of the 52 finalists that are going to compete for the European eGovernment Awards 2009. The Awards ceremony will take place on 19th November in Malmö (Sweden). The 52 selected projects are managed by public authorities at local, regional or national level from 17 different European countries, providing services in their own locality or cross-border. All projects make a significant contribution to increasing the efficiency of public services in Europe through the use of digital technologies.
